NO RIO HÁ UMA CIDADE QUE NOS SEPARA
2021
In Rio, there is a city that separates was an artistic residency that addressed decolonialism and territorial heterogeneity. Through sweaty bodies, intense breaths and heartbeats, the project initiated a dialogue about the absurdity of hegemonic social norms, political brutality and patriarchal domination. Eight independent artists, with different artistic backgrounds, coming from Brazil and Nordic countries, created their works based on the notion of emotional territoriality and affected by the feeling of belonging. The one month residency happened at Solar Real, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil during January 2021.
The end of the residency culminated in a 12hour durational performance presented collectively by the resident artists.
This project was funded by NORDISKKULTURFUND and supported by Solar Real.
